What is Rager's policy on foul and abusive language?

To what extent will I or my family be exposed to obscenity, profanity, vulgarity or abusive language by using this service? Alternately, how free am I to indulge in language that others might find offensive?

The whole purpose of Rager is to reduce or eliminate the rage - not to escalate it! It is firm site policy (see TOU Clause 5 A.) that no language is permitted that any reasonable person might consider to be

  • obscene
  • vulgar
  • profane (such as blasphemy)
  • demeaning
  • abusive or threatening

However great the temptation and however much some folk are of the opinion that a good flurry of swearing does much to relieve stress, the truth is that by reining in the urge to be verbally violent, we do much to bring sanity to an otherwise spiralling situation and an upset person is calmer quicker for exercising some self-control.

Members found to be contravening this policy will be removed from the site.

Nonetheless, we are mindful of the fact that sometimes you just can't help yourself and that many users of the service will not be registered with us, so we have an active language filter which not only monitors and "corrects" language on the site but does so in SMSs, too. This filter depends on a list of really ugly words and phrases (and any other sensitive vocabulary, like names of God) and it will never be complete, given the creativity of people who like to be verbally abusive, but we do our best to keep it up to date (a job not unlike cleaning up in the garden after a dog with diarrhoea...).

Should a word or phrase you find offensive slip through our guard, please advise us of this using the contact form and we'll rectify that as quickly as possible.
